Product
What is WPC and why does it matter?
WPC is wood-plastic composite: wood fiber bonded with plastic. You get the warm wood-slat look without wood's problems. It's 100% waterproof, won't rot, warp or swell, and wipes clean. It also has no formaldehyde and gives off very few chemical fumes.
Will they look real up close?
Every slat has a wood-grain finish in Oak, Walnut or Charcoal. See them in real rooms in the photos on the product page.
Are these acoustic panels?
The fluted shape softens echo and adds depth to a room, but these are solid panels made as a wall finish, not a dedicated soundproofing product.
What colors do you offer?
Oak, Walnut and Charcoal. All three are the same size, so you can mix colors on the same wall.
Are they fire safe?
They're fire resistant, meaning they're hard to catch fire. They carry a Class B1 fire rating (GB 8624).
Sizing & coverage
What size are the panels?
Each panel is 96.06 in long × 6.57 in wide × 0.87 in deep (2,440 × 167 × 22 mm) and covers 4.386 sq ft.
How many panels come in a pack?
Eight. One pack covers 35.09 sq ft. On a standard 8 ft wall, one pack covers about 4.4 ft of wall width.
How many packs do I need?
Multiply your wall height by its width in feet, divide by 35 and round up. A 10 × 9 ft accent wall is 90 sq ft, which is 3 packs. A 10 × 10 ft room with 9 ft ceilings is about 360 sq ft, or 11 packs. Add about 10% (or one extra pack) if you have a lot of cuts around windows, doors or outlets.
My wall is taller than 8 ft. Will the panels reach?
Panels are 8 ft long. For a taller wall, fill the gap at the top with short pieces cut from extra panels. That leaves a thin seam, so put it at the top of the wall where it's least noticeable.
Do I need trim?
Exposed panel edges and outside corners look best finished with trim. Our corner trim is temporarily unavailable online. Email hello@finishyard.com and we'll help you plan your edges.
Installation
Can I install these myself?
Yes. Each panel glues to the wall and slides into the one before it. Small nails are optional, only if your wall needs extra hold. See the full install guide with photos.
- Check the wall is flat, dry, clean and solid.
- Measure, mark and cut each panel to length.
- Run a zigzag of construction adhesive down the back of the panel. Wear protective gloves.
- Press it on from the center out. Make sure the first panel is straight (your phone's level app works).
- Slide the next panel's tongue into the last one until the seam is tight.
What tools do I need to cut them?
A miter saw gives the cleanest cut. A circular saw, jigsaw or hacksaw also works. Use a fine-tooth blade.
What adhesive should I use?
Construction adhesive, applied with a caulk gun. Wear protective gloves while you work with it.
What about outlets and switches?
Turn off the power, take the cover plate off, and cut the panel around the box before you glue it up.
Can I take them down later?
Glued panels are meant to stay up. Taking them down will likely damage the wall underneath, so if you rent, check with your landlord first.
Can they go in bathrooms and kitchens?
Yes. They don't soak up any water, and there are no gaps between the flutes for moisture to sit in. They work on bathroom walls, vanity surrounds, kitchens, laundry rooms and basements. Not for inside a shower or outdoors.
Can I put them on a ceiling?
Yes. They work on indoor walls and ceilings.
